I’m a passionate person who gets really excited about the greater and smaller things in life.
I’m a Peruvian native, born and raised. The culture of my country has made me appreciate who I am and where I come from, as well as to learn from other cultures and broaden my love for the arts. I also have lived in a few cities in Venezuela (for about seven years), and in 2001, I moved to Oceanside, California with my family… now I currently live in the sleepless city of Los Angeles with my incredible husband, Brian Borkert.
My family, friends, food, fashion, music, art, traveling and learning about different cultures are what have built the person who I am today.
I currently go to school at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising for Apparel Industry Management. I want to specialize in Quality Control and Textile Science. I know it sounds boring, but it is truly fascinating to me! I also dream of the idea of starting my own clothing line someday: incorporating shapes that are comfortable and functional, mixed with my Peruvian culture, and infused with rock ‘n roll + a vintage touch. I love textiles intensely and I’m definitely not afraid of color.
I don’t limit myself to the fashion world, though. You only get to live once, so I believe you should not just focus in just one of the things you love. Someday I will own a small cafe, write a book (or two, or thirteen), work in a movie designing sets and costumes, make pottery, jewelry, accessories, help with public relations and marketing, learn multiple languages, travel around the world… and even become a public speaker… who knows … and why not?
